You have to stop.

If you are like me, you have fitness goals, job goals, dream goals, reading goals, marriage goals…goals for every aspect of your life.

My question is, why?

Most of us have more goals than accomplishments. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Success does not equal more goals + more goals. If you are so busy setting goals, how will you get out there and accomplish anything?

Everyone is telling us to set more goals. If you just set goals for yourself, you will achieve success. I think that’s only half the story. What if God gives you an opportunity to accomplish your dream and it doesn’t fit within your goal list? The bible says we sit around making plans, but God determines our steps.

Sure, we need goals. But, how many do we need? Do we really need goals for everything? I don’t think so. I think we can get by with much less.

Make one list of goals. Just one list. Make the goals on this list count. They have to be the only ones you really need to accomplish. Stop making lists of goals for your goals like I do. Find out how much more you can accomplish when you stop focusing on setting goals and start getting out there.

Write, dream, play with your kids, go for a run. Face your fears and dare to do something today about your dream. You won’t get anything done sitting around setting more goals.

What do you think about setting goals? What is one thing you can do today to get closer to your dream?
